About The Artist
Salwa Hajar is a distinguished Saudi Visual Artist holding a Bachelor’s in English Literature from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. Her extensive administrative career includes Vice President of the Lighthouse of the Arabs for Culture and Arts, President of the Lighthouse Academy for Training, and General Administration Director for the Saudi Art Visual Arts Club’s Western Region branch. She is an influential member of numerous national and international organizations, including the Society for Culture and Arts, and is a founding member/Saudi representative for the Mahmoud Darwish Groups Association and the International Cultural Center. Ms. Hajar has garnered significant international recognition, notably serving as an ambassador for the Middle East and Africa branch of the International Commonwealth Club. Her honors include being named one of the “Best Personalities Worldwide” (2020, Golden Press Saudi Arabia), recognized by Ambassador Walid Bukhari at the Saudi Embassy in Beirut, and selected among the “50 most important and prominent personalities” by Etiquette Press Saudi Arabia magazine. Her artistic career is marked by significant awards and contributions. She won the Acquisition Prize, ranking third nationally at the Third Exhibition for Female Plastic Artists in 2004 (1425 AH), and her name was included among the pioneers of Saudi plastic art in the book Art in Half a Century (2016) and Tale of Generations (2023). In 2023, she won the “Most Beautiful Brush” competition and was named the “Most Influential Personality” by Najma Saudi Arabia online. More recently, she won the Global Award for Best Arab Artist in the Landscape category in London, received the Medal of Creativity and Excellence from Al Aan News E-Newspaper in 2024, and was named the Best Personality by Al-Masaa Al-Arabi Newspaper and the Afro-Asian Writers Union in 2024, leading to her appointment as a board member of Al-Masaa Al-Arabi. Her work has been studied in schools within and outside the Kingdom, and she has participated in many exhibitions since 1999 (1420 AH) across Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Dubai, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt, Germany, Italy, France, Ukraine, Russia, and London
