About The Artist
Ali Al-Sulaimani is a Saudi artist whose career successfully transitioned from a dedicated art
educator to a full-time visual artist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Umm Al-Qura University, which he received in 1986, in addition to a Computer Diploma from the Learning Resources Center in Manama, Bahrain. For over 32 years, Al-Sulaimani served as an Art Education teacher, a tenure that included a four-year secondment to Bahrain where he worked as a lecturer at a Religious Institute. Following his voluntary retirement from teaching, he now dedicates his time entirely to his artistic practice, which also involves extensive research and experimentation with various materials, including wood, iron, sand, and recycled consumables.
Al-Sulaimani has maintained an active presence in the Gulf’s cultural scene, reflected in his various memberships, such as the Jassat for Plastic Arts, the House of Figurative Artists in Jeddah, and the Al-Muharraq Arts Society in Bahrain. His extensive exhibition history spans from 1987 (1407 AH) to 2016 (1437 AH) across all government sectors, alongside multiple joint exhibitions in Bahrain and the “Riyadh, Capital of Culture” exhibition held at the Saudi Embassy in Manama. Among his key creative achievements are large-scale projects, including the design and execution of the 14,000 sq. meter Spring Festival in 1994/1995 simulating Historic Jeddah, and a 100 sq. meter
three-dimensional wooden mural at Al-Wehda Club. His contributions have earned him over 350 certificates and awards, most notably being honored by the Prime Minister of Bahrain, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, with the Distinguished Teacher Certificate and the Ministry of Education’s First-Degree Medal in 2001/2002.
