Abdullah Abdu AlFutiny

Professor Abdullah Abdo Fatini is a distinguished academic holding a Ph.D. in Art Education, specializing in Arabic Calligraphy and Fine Arts, and currently serves as a faculty member with the rank of Professor at Umm Al-Qura University. He is a prominent figure in the field, with a record that includes holding several leadership positions at his university and securing a U.S. patent for developing the electronic pen for Arabic calligraphy. Prof. Fatini’s scholarly output is substantial, with 16 published scientific research papers and six printed scientific books focused on Arabic calligraphy and fine arts. Demonstrating his dedication to the art form, he is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Scientific Society for Arabic Calligraphy, a founding member of the Egyptian General Society for Arabic Calligraphy, and the founder of two calligraphy competitions bearing his name in Indonesia and for the Ruq’ah script.

Throughout his career, Prof. Fatini has been deeply involved in cultural and artistic activities globally, delivering scientific lectures at major events such as the International Calligraphers of the Holy Qur’an Event, the Ministry of Culture’s “Year of Arabic Calligraphy,” and forums across India, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. He is a respected international judge, having chaired the jury for significant competitions, including the Sharjah International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy and various national competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture and Information. His expertise has been formally recognized by being named among the 10 most renowned calligraphers in Saudi Arabia and by receiving honors at international festivals in Cairo, Fez, and Surabaya. Furthermore, he has participated in numerous art exhibitions, and a large number of his calligraphic and artistic works have been acquired by government bodies, civil society organizations, and private collectors both within and outside Saudi Arabia.
